GOOD NEWS. BAD NEWS: Josee’s Law goes to Albany, gaining support

( – It’s been an emotional time. I’ve been robbed, spit on and physically assaulted by a crazy lunatic. I’ve had to file motion to terminate the horrible court appointed attorney – JUNE B. CALLWOOD – who was assigned in April 2016 but called me only three times – each from a blocked number and two of those times for no longer than a seconds. She is so unprofessional and uncaring. When I served her with termination of service papers, she basically said she wouldn’t leave the case. In fact, despite signing Affidavit terminating our relationship, she preceded to represent me in a hearing that I wasn’t allowed to participate in. June B. Callwood lied and said her office was at 305 Broadway but the landlord said she hasn’t been a tenant for most of the year. She said was going to set up a meeting with me, but I never met her at all. Couldn’t tell you what she looks like. June B. Callwood is listed as a licensed attorney in NY but no one I spoke to could tell me what she looks like.

URGENT NEWS: Josee’s story sparked a Federal Class Action Lawsuit but the Settlement Offer will harm Josee and other children for decades

Notice of Settlement Offer - ACS

I was able to meet with the judge in the case – the Honorable Laura Swain – who said, “I’m very disturbed by what I’m hearing here today. It doesn’t sound like the lawsuit is addressing the ‘treatment’ of children in foster care. She ordered that a website be established to keep me and other parents in the loop of what’s happening.  The website was due by May 27, 2016 and is currently active, although it fails to provide the records, docments or other relevant information in the case for others to understand what’s been going on. Thank you ALL for your prayers, calls and letters. Please keep it up! We can reform family court and CPS.

( – I am personally disgusted that my child’s pain and suffering are being exploited by not only the City of New York and its embattled child protective agency, Administration for Children’s Services (ACS),  but also by the State of New York, Letitia James the New York City Public Advocate, profit seeking, ambulance chasing attorney Marsha Lowry and others.

As a reporter, People always ask me: “Which celebrities have you met? Which are your favorite?” I have met scores of them but to honest my two most favorite celebrities are my mom and Josee. They were born to have actresses portray them in movies.  This film is the only way we can get the truth out there.

As I work on my first ever film –  about Josee’s story and other children harmed by NYC’s ACS – we are about to start casting. It’s surreal to be able to cast for actresses for your mom and child. All of the actors are volunteering as is the film crew. While it’s devastating the reason why I had to make the movie,  but their stories are stores of TRIUMPH and BRAVERY. Josee’s going to come home. I can just feel it and her story will inspire so many. She’s the ultimate hero to me.

I love my child more than life itself. I literally adore her. She’s the type of person I’d want to know even if she wasn’t related to me. Josee’s touched by an angel and has the most healing spirit, but she’s starting to change. She’s becoming depressed, withdrawn and utterly sad. She’s bone thin now because of missing her mommy. I miss her so much I can hardly breath. But I have to fight for my baby. I have to fight. There are class action  hearings set for May 13, June and August. Josee and I have family court hearings coming but my attorneys never give me information on my case so I’m in the dark. I’ll let you know when I find out. Please try to attend.

Josee’s begging to testify in court. I think it will be good for her. She wants to tell the judge herself how she feels. She says her attorney tells her she’ll file motions on Josee’s behalf but she flat out lies to my child’s face. Josee’s Legal Aid attorney has yet to file a single motion, call a single witness or do anything to help Josee. So for now, YOU and I are all Josee’s got. We’re her voice.

I went on social media and began bringing awareness to Josee’s case and it set out a wave of conversation, other parents coming forward, over 50 media articles in places like Miami Herald, Associated Press, Washington Times and San Fran Chronicle to name a few. Over 300,000 have viewed the tweets. I cannot begin to tell you how grateful Josee and I are for your concern, prayers and love. We can feel it. We really can.

During this journey to freedom, my photo was featured as “Photo of the Day” by Yahoo! and was used as cover story photo for Michelle Goldberg’s incredible article entitled, “Has Child Protective Services Gone Too Far?” that appears in The Nation magazine. Josee’s story has taken her (via me) on radio shows, gotten recognized by Dr. Phil’s producers and more but ironically, not one person involved in Josee’s case has actually met my child. Not her attorney. Not her NYC CASA worker.  Not her now 12th case planner or the now fifth judge on the case. Not ACS. Not even the Mayor has bothered to meet my child, which is both unethical on the attorney side and inhumane.

“WHY I HELD THE SIGN” campaign launches to #BringJoseeHome

Young man VOLUNTEERS to hold #BringJoseeHome sign

( – In an effort to bring awareness to the #BringJoseeHome campaign, a new project called, “Why I held the sign” has launched. The project asks people who stop and hold the sign why they agreed to help. The results will be included in an upcoming traveling exhibit that will also include the actual signs that will be placed in various museums.

THE VIEW had me in tears but renewed my fight to #BringJoseeHome

TheView_BringJoseeHome_Blackish_JohnCena_AmericanGrit ( – When I found out I was being given two tickets to attend a taping of ABC’s hit morning show, “The View,” I was excited but when I found out wrestling star JOHN CENA was going to be a guest during the same show my excitement went through the roof. Obviously, I’m a fan.

Lately, I have been turning down interviews, not attending events and otherwise walking away from my job as a celebrity reporter to return to my old roots of investigative reporting. Having your child #LegallyKidnapped doesn’t make you want to waste your day asking celebrities about their designer shoes. To be fair, I’ve never enjoyed red carpet reporting. I started covering entertainment and sports because my investigative work got dangerous.

Turns out no one like the person who is trying to uncover things that they have been trying to keep secret like the question that keeps nagging at me: “Why does New York City’s child welfare agency, ACS, have a bigger budget than the secret service?” I mean, we’re talking about ONE American city – not an entire state. NYC has only 11,000 foster kids so that’s like $350,000 per child when they say they only spend about $29,000 a year per child. That’s a lot of missing money. Continue reading

An Army of Strangers are Rising Up! #BringJoseeHome Tour took L.A.

#BringJoseeHome #LetitiaJames #KimKardashianSon

Josee used to go to some work events like this with but I still bring Josee with me in my heart.

(Josee’ – TORTURE: The feeling a mom gets when she’s somewhere without her child. People always say, your job is so cool. I always answer: “YEP. Motherhood is the greatest job on Earth.” Then they get mad when they ask: Have you ever met any celebrities? because I always answer: “Yep. My daughter JOSEE is the biggest star I know. She’s the most famous person in my life. She’s my inspiration.” But I never stay down very long because before I have a chance to feel it, someone does something that reminds me that we’re all in this together.

Who needs “celebrities” when you know that EVERY BABY IS A STAR! As the #BringJoseeHome tour hit Los Angeles, it was overwhelming to see that in a city where they see stars everyday they felt that Josee’s story should be on the big screen. One lady said, “I wonder who they will cast to play Josee. She’s a modern day Annie but the ending is different because it’s her mother whose fighting to bring her home. I can’t wait to see the movie because I know in the end that with all of us people around the country caring about this little girl, your baby is coming home. I  know it so I’m honored to hold this sign. Maybe I’ll get to play myself in the movie. Either way, it’s time to #BringJoseeHome.”

London joins the fight to #BringJoseeHome

#BringJoseeHome ( – As the battle to #BringJoseeHome rages on, London is the latest country to join the international campaign to save the kindergarten child from family court corruption.  As domestic violence victims, we were re-victimized by family court which allows abusers to use court proceedings to find the addresses and locations of victims.

Another case of  Manhattan Family Court Corruption is making international news. The case involves London is the case of the police officer and single mom LOUISE FIELDEN, who came to visit New York City only to have her infant son, Sam, be legally kidnapped and placed into foster care on Brooklyn. The cop/mom was arrested and has spent over $100,000 trying to get her now 15-month old son back. Nigeria was the first to join the American efforts, now a British invasion hopes to pressure New York City’s embattled child welfare agency, Administration of Children’s Services (ACS) to do the right thing and reunite me and my child.  Now London joins the fight as well. Thank you LONDON! It means the world to us!

I had the chance to interview her attorney about the case and was moved by the striking similiarities of her case, my own case and the Kelly Rutherford case. You can hear the interview below. LISTEN HERE:

To help me bring my child home, please call 212-788-2958 and ask De Blasio to #BringJoseeHome.

BLESS THE BABY: God can’t get the glory if you don’t tell your story

( – As the nation gears up to celebrate the holidays, moms like me who survived domestic violence only to have their abusers use family court to terrorize them, know the pain of the holidays. Our children know, too.

When asked what she is thankful for in school, Josee said, “I am thankful that I have a mother.”

If you are just learning of our story, YOU HAVE NO IDEA how hard some people are working to keep Josee and me apart, but she does. Josee is hyper-aware of how hard I am fighting for her. She is aware how hard some of our advocates are fighting, too. Her statement might not be true if THOUSANDS of you had not called Mayor de Blasio, the courthouse and to the White House. We were apart on Thanksgiving but we are still a family because of God’s grace and people like Jo Natha Stock, Dr. Erich Z, journalist Tom Hays, photographer Babeto, Chris Pringle, Katrina Walker and many strangers who know our story.

Children like Josee are being used as pawns, wrongly placed in foster care and illegally kept there as punishment for moms who speak out and fight for their children’s rights. I had recently decided to be silent, but something happened that made me know that I cannot sit back and allow injustice to continue to cause hell for my child, myself and other families.

Last week, I was invited to an upscale dinner where about 20 or so other “bloggers, journalists and social influencers” met a dynamic woman named Katrina Walker, a domestic violence survivor whose story is so touching and profound that Rev. Sharpton hosted the dinner. I usually go out of my way to avoid political situations, but this dinner felt different so I agreed to attend. I am so glad that I did. Here’s why: Continue reading

“Be Josee’s Voice” Campaign Goes Viral in Effort to #BringJoseeHome, Save a Child’s Life, Pass Law

( – Josee is one of the most amazing kids you will ever meet, not that she has had it easy. Domestic violence nearly ended her life before it began but by God’s grace my baby and I survived.

We ended up in the NICU but after a couple of weeks, we began our new life. She was smaller than a magazine, so fragile she couldn’t digest powdered baby formula but since I planned to nurse it wasn’t a big deal. Nursing my child was something I always wanted to do but with premature, low birth weight children it was pretty much mandatory. Needless to say, we’ve been through some things but through it all we knew we had each other and we’d be okay.

Now our world has been shattered by false and malicious allegations and we’re fighting to be reunited. Josee needs me and I need you! It takes a Village to raise a child. I am hoping that YOU will become a part of Josee’s village.

i#PassJoseeLaw #BeJoseesVoice #FightCPS

I baked Josee a birthday cake from scratch and lots of love!

This blog was Josee’s idea because as she told me, “No one listens to childrens.” She’s right. She hasn’t even met her own attorney. The local CPS worker has made no effort to ensure my child gets play therapy as I requested over a year ago. CASA – Child Appointed Court Advocates – allowed the first ICPC to expire and haven’t helped secure a local guardian ad litem or local child advocate. Heck, Josee’s foster care agency – Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families – hasn’t allowed her to participate in ballet, gymnastics or anything …EVER…despite my requests.  They didn’t pay her school bill for an entire year and I was forced to turn to Twitter to pressure Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families to finally a issue check – after an entire year! Even the school didn’t comply with several court orders. But still we rise.

Sadly, Josee’s right: Few people listen to kids – or their falsely accused parents – even if the agency is paid millions a year to do so. This blog seeks to be Josee’s Voice. Because of YOU and your support, Josee and I remain hopeful that this illegal nightmare that costs taxpayers millions a year – will soon be over for us. Continue reading

My child is being EDUCATIONALLY NEGLECT while in Foster Care

Educational Neglect by NYC ACS while in foster care ( – ONE THOUSAND MILES AWAY from New York City, Josee is suffering from educational neglect. She’s not getting the services she needs. She’s not getting the educational help she’s legally entitled to and ACS is required to provide. There’s an attorney receiving a paycheck to help my child but has never met my child, is not fighting for my child, hasn’t filed one motion on my child’s behalf and had done nothing that is in the best interest of my child. And taxpayers are footing the bill for it all. Educational Neglect by ACS should be a crime.
